Important: Leave is subject to sanction and service-specific rules. Verify the current DoPT order and your department's procedure before acting.

Wrong LTC block or occasion

Check whether the journey was sanctioned as Home Town LTC, Any Place in India LTC or a fresh-recruit occasion. A correct journey in the wrong block can still lead to an objection.

Unauthorised air-ticket booking

Government air-ticket instructions prescribe authorised booking channels for applicable LTC journeys. If a ticket was booked elsewhere, ask the office to identify the exact rule/relaxation position rather than assuming reimbursement will be allowed.

Missing boarding pass or journey proof

Keep boarding passes, tickets, invoice, payment proof and cancellation/refund records. If a document is missing, provide any officially acceptable alternative evidence your department permits.

Special-destination relaxation: check validity

The DoPT order dated 9 September 2026 (government-hosted PDF) extends the special destination scheme for 26 September 2026 to 25 September 2028. Confirm the permitted route, entitlement and sanction with your department before booking.

Premium trains now permitted

DoPT's 14 January 2025 order allowed LTC travel by Tejas Express, Vande Bharat Express and Humsafar Express in addition to the existing Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, subject to entitlement.

Fare higher than admissible amount

The claim can be restricted to the fare admissible under the applicable class, route and booking rules. Separate personal expenditure from the Government-reimbursable portion.

Family eligibility objection

Provide the dependency/relationship evidence applicable under the CCS (LTC) Rules. Do not rely only on the person's name appearing in an old service record.

How to respond to a rejection

Ask for the objection or disallowance in writing. Reply point-by-point with the sanction, tickets, proof and exact DoPT order supporting your case. Escalate through the departmental administrative/grievance channel if the issue remains unresolved.
