Before acting: CGHS procedures can differ by beneficiary type, city, treatment category and current orders. Verify the latest official requirement for your case.

What Wellness Centres provide

MoHFW states that CGHS provides OPD facilities and medicines through Wellness Centres, polyclinics and laboratories.

Appointments and digital access

The 2025–26 Annual Report says myCGHS 2.0 supports appointment booking, medical history access, e-card download and location of CGHS Wellness Centres/offices.

At the centre

Carry or access the current CGHS beneficiary card and provide the beneficiary details requested. Explain the current medical problem and bring relevant previous prescriptions/reports where useful.

Medicines

MoHFW states that medicines are issued against prescriptions according to CGHS rules/formulary. Medicines not available at the dispensary can be procured through authorised local chemists under the CGHS supply process.

Referral when needed

For specialist or hospital care, the Wellness Centre/CGHS doctor may initiate the applicable referral route. Referral rules differ by treatment and beneficiary category, so do not assume every hospital visit needs the same document.

Beneficiaries aged 70 and above

The Ministry's 2025–26 Annual Report states that beneficiaries aged 70 years and above are entitled to direct specialist consultation at empanelled hospitals. Check the current implementation requirements before attending.

Before travelling to a centre

Check the current Wellness Centre location and working schedule from official CGHS sources or myCGHS 2.0, especially around holidays or local changes.
