Important: State grants and rates change. Verify the latest Government Order and local application route before applying.

District welfare offices

The Department of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare publishes district office contact details covering districts across Tamil Nadu. Use the current official directory because contact details can change.

Employment reservation

Current Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board material confirms 5% reservation for ex-servicemen in applicable direct recruitment, subject to the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act and availability of suitable candidates.

Certificates and verification

District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Offices are the practical starting point for State ESM certificates, welfare verification and documentation required for reservation or other State benefits.

Rehabilitation and resettlement

The State welfare machinery supports post-service rehabilitation and links ex-servicemen with employment and other Government welfare measures.

TEXCO employment route

Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen's Corporation (TEXCO) is a State public-sector entity associated with employment/manpower opportunities for ex-servicemen. Treat TEXCO recruitment as separate from general Government reservation.

Education and family benefits

Where a ward or dependant claims a defence-category benefit, verify the exact certificate format, issuing authority and academic-year notification before applying.

What to prepare

Keep discharge certificate/ESM ID, Tamil Nadu address/residence proof where required, community certificate where relevant to recruitment, PPO if applicable, and the benefit-specific supporting documents.

Avoid stale scheme lists

Tamil Nadu has long-standing veteran concessions, but older orders can be superseded. Use the current Department notification or Government Order for the exact benefit.

Central benefits are separate

State welfare does not replace Central schemes under Kendriya Sainik Board, DESW, DGR, ECHS or SPARSH. Check whether your benefit is State-funded, Central-funded or requires both State verification and Central approval.
