Where to start
Contact the District Sainik Welfare Office for your district. The Directorate supervises welfare, settlement and rehabilitation programmes for serving personnel families, ex-servicemen, dependants and war widows.
State Military Benevolent Fund
The current official portal lists financial assistance from the State Military Benevolent Fund and District Military Benevolent Fund, subject to eligibility and income conditions.
Marriage assistance
The Kerala portal currently lists a marriage grant for eligible daughters of ex-servicemen, subject to scheme conditions and income ceiling. Verify the latest amount and documentary requirements before applying.
Immediate financial assistance
The Department also publishes emergency/immediate financial-assistance provisions at State and district levels for eligible veterans and dependants.
Education support
Current Kerala Sainik Welfare updates include KSB welfare guidelines and education-related support, including assistance linked to eligible wards and defence-category admissions.
Resettlement and self-employment
The Department's statutory role includes settlement and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen and coordination with Kendriya Sainik Board and Directorate General Resettlement.
Use current district route
Applications should normally be routed through the appropriate District Sainik Welfare Office where verification is required. Keep ESM ID/discharge papers and State registration current.
Verify financial figures
Kerala's official pages publish scheme amounts, but these can be revised by later orders. Check the latest Government Order or Department notice before relying on any figure.
Central benefits are separate
State welfare does not replace Central schemes under Kendriya Sainik Board, DESW, DGR, ECHS or SPARSH. Check whether your benefit is State-funded, Central-funded or requires both State verification and Central approval.
