Important: State grants and rates change. Verify the latest Government Order and local application route before applying.

State authority

Official Karnataka Open Government Data identifies the Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement under the Karnataka Home Department, with headquarters at Field Marshal Cariyappa Bhavan, Bengaluru.

Scholarships for wards

The Karnataka Government's Open Data platform includes a current Sainik Welfare scholarship dataset for wards of ex-servicemen, showing that education assistance remains an active State welfare area.

District-level support

Zila Sainik Welfare offices handle local registration, certification, welfare and resettlement work. Use current State contacts because the district structure and officer details may change.

Employment support

A State-level Sainik Welfare Co-operative Society separately provides security/allied services and employment opportunities to ex-servicemen and other eligible personnel. This is distinct from the Government Department.

Central welfare schemes

KSB/RMEWF grants remain Central schemes even when local State/Zila Sainik Welfare offices assist with verification.

Documents to keep ready

Maintain discharge book/ESM ID, Karnataka address proof where applicable, pension status, bank details, family/dependency documents and education/employment evidence relevant to the scheme.

Confirm scholarship conditions

Do not assume every child of an ESM automatically qualifies. Course, marks, income, category and application period can vary by scheme/year.

Escalation

For unresolved State welfare issues, approach the Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement with your district-office reference and supporting correspondence.

Central benefits are separate

State welfare does not replace Central schemes under Kendriya Sainik Board, DESW, DGR, ECHS or SPARSH. Check whether your benefit is State-funded, Central-funded or requires both State verification and Central approval.
