State and district structure
The Gujarat Directorate controls District Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Offices, which act as the grassroots implementing agencies for ex-servicemen, widows, dependants and families of serving personnel.
Online ex-servicemen portal
The Directorate's 2024 RTI manual states that financial-assistance and benefit information is available through the Gujarat Ex-Servicemen Portal. Use the current portal for online scheme access where available.
Financial assistance
Official Gujarat material lists State/Rajya Sainik Board assistance for eligible ESM, widows and dependants. Because scheme rates and income limits can change, verify the current portal/order before applying.
Pension and settlement help
District Sainik Welfare offices assist ex-servicemen with military-pension and final-settlement issues and can help progress cases with the relevant authorities.
Employment and self-employment
The Directorate and district offices provide employment and self-employment assistance and function as important local resettlement channels.
Documents to prepare
Keep ESM ID/discharge papers, Gujarat domicile/residence proof where required, PPO/pension details, Aadhaar or accepted ID, bank details and scheme-specific documents.
Use district office for verification
Many welfare benefits require local verification. Submit through or obtain certification from the appropriate District Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Office.
Check the latest rate
Do not rely on an old printed benefit chart if the portal or a later Government Order shows a revised amount or condition.
Central benefits are separate
KSB/RMEWF, DGR, ECHS and SPARSH are Central schemes/services. A State or District Sainik Welfare office may verify or assist a case, but the Central scheme's own rules still apply.
