Which assistance should you check?

The Bihar Sainik Kalyan Directorate's official welfare scheme list publishes these summaries. Obtain the current conditions and form before relying on an amount.

  • House repair: ₹1 lakh in two instalments for eligible ex-servicemen's widows and disabled ex-servicemen.
  • Daughter's marriage: ₹2 lakh, for up to two daughters, for ex-servicemen without pensionary support and widows of ex-servicemen.
  • Vocational merit scholarship: ₹36,000 annually per candidate, including the listed book/hostel support; the summary states no income limit.
  • Education grant: listed for classes 6–10 and specified further courses, with rank/course conditions distinct from the merit scholarship.
  • Funeral assistance: ₹10,000 for dependants of ex-servicemen up to JCO or equivalent.

The individual scheme document controls detailed conditions. Do not combine conditions from different grants.

Application preparation, step by step

  1. Open the scheme list and select the grant matching your need. Save its linked scheme document with the date.
  2. Use the official office directory to identify the relevant Sainik Kalyan office. Ask which office accepts applications for your district.
  3. Ask for the current form, submission method, deadline, attestation requirements and whether previous assistance affects eligibility.
  4. Prepare the application using that scheme's document list. Keep a copy and obtain a receipt or reference number when submitting.

Prepare your records

This is a preparation aid, not an official mandatory-document list. Put your discharge/ESM identity record, pension-status evidence and relevant family records together before contacting the office. Marriage, education and repair claims need different supporting evidence: ask exactly what the scheme accepts.

Check that the applicant's name agrees across the form, service/family record and bank record. If it differs, ask which correction evidence is required before submission. Keep originals separately from the copies you plan to submit.

Two checks that can prevent a wrong application

A pension-receiving veteran planning a daughter's marriage: do not assume this grant applies solely because you are an ex-serviceman. The published category distinguishes pension support. Resolve that eligibility question before assembling an expense claim.

A student comparing education support: identify the exact course first. Education assistance and vocational merit scholarship are different entries. Ask which covers the course and whether another scholarship affects the application.

If your application is returned

Request a written list of missing documents or the eligibility condition that was not met. Keep it with your receipt. Correct the identified problem and quote the original reference when resubmitting. Repeatedly sending the same incomplete file makes follow-up harder.

Maintain a short record of the submission date, office, reference number and next action. BenefitDesk cannot submit an application or access your official record.
