Nineteen Zila Sainik Welfare Offices

The Directorate states that 19 ZSWOs operate under its control to execute welfare activities across Assam.

Education grants

The official welfare pages publish education assistance for eligible wards of ESM/widows across school, degree, postgraduate and professional-course categories, subject to rank, marks and availability of funds.

Funeral assistance

The Directorate's current 'Latest' page states that funeral assistance for the next of kin of a deceased ESM of any rank is available under the State welfare system. Verify the current claim procedure before applying.

Employment reservation

The current Assam welfare page states that ex-servicemen reservation applies in State recruitment, including specified percentages for different post categories, subject to the applicable recruitment rules.

Property and registration concessions

The same current page lists certain State concessions for ESM/widows relating to land/flat registration fees and property tax. Confirm the implementing local-body/revenue procedure before relying on the concession.

Resettlement support

ZSWOs liaise with employers, employment exchanges, revenue authorities, industries and block-development offices and help ESM with cooperatives, project reports and self-employment ventures.

Current vacancies

The Directorate actively publishes ESM-only vacancy notices, so veterans seeking re-employment should check the official portal periodically.

What to prepare

Keep ESM/discharge documents, Assam residence details, pension/non-pensioner status, bank details, education/family documents and the proof required by the specific scheme.

Central benefits are separate

KSB/RMEWF, DGR, ECHS and SPARSH are Central schemes/services. A State or District Sainik Welfare office may verify or assist a case, but the Central scheme's own rules still apply.
