SPARSH life certificate: quick answer

Use only an official identification channel accepted for your pension record. The SPARSH portal provides life-certificate or identification facilities, and Digital Life Certificate services may also be completed through authorised Jeevan Pramaan channels. Follow the current instructions shown by the official service and keep the acknowledgement or Pramaan ID.

Available methods can depend on the pensioner's category, location, device and current government instructions. BenefitDesk does not collect biometric data or submit certificates on behalf of pensioners.

What is a life certificate?

A life certificate is a periodic confirmation that a pensioner is alive and remains eligible for continued pension disbursement. In SPARSH, this process may also be described as identification.

Do not rely on a date copied from an old article. Submission windows, special provisions and category-specific instructions can change. Check the current notice visible on the official SPARSH portal or the instructions issued for your pension category.

How to complete identification through SPARSH

  1. Open the official SPARSH portal.
Confirm the address ends in sparsh.defencepension.gov.in.
  2. Sign in to the pensioner account.
Use the current login method shown on the portal. See the SPARSH login guide if access fails.
  3. Find the identification service.
Look for wording such as life certificate, identification or a similar pensioner service.
  4. Review the pensioner details.
Check the displayed name and pension record before continuing.
  5. Choose an available official method.
The portal may show one or more routes based on current system support and eligibility.
  6. Complete the verification.
Follow the on-screen instructions without sharing OTPs, passwords or biometric data with an unknown person.
  7. Save the acknowledgement.
Record the status, reference number, screenshot or downloadable acknowledgement offered by the official service.

Using Jeevan Pramaan

Jeevan Pramaan is the Government of India's biometric-enabled Digital Life Certificate service. A pensioner can generate a DLC using an authorised app setup or by visiting a listed centre.

  • Use only the official Jeevan Pramaan website, application instructions or an authorised centre.
  • Enter the pension and authority details exactly as required by the official form.
  • Save the generated Pramaan ID and acknowledgement.
  • Use the official pensioner login on Jeevan Pramaan to download the certificate when required.
  • Check whether the certificate has been accepted or rejected rather than assuming generation alone completes the process.
Best practice: keep the Pramaan ID, submission date and status message together in a private folder until the next identification cycle.

How to confirm the life certificate status

  1. Check the acknowledgement produced at submission.
  2. Review SMS or portal notifications from the official service.
  3. Sign in to the relevant official portal and look for identification or certificate status.
  4. For a Jeevan Pramaan DLC, use the official pensioner service to view or download the certificate.
  5. If the status is rejected or remains unclear, contact the official support channel with the reference number.

Do not assume that a biometric capture or app success screen automatically means the pension authority has accepted the record. Status confirmation matters.

Security and fraud precautions

  • Never share an OTP, SPARSH password, ATM PIN or card details with a caller.
  • Do not install screen-sharing apps because someone claims they will submit the certificate for you.
  • Use official app-store listings and verify the publisher before installing an application.
  • Avoid sending Aadhaar, PPO or bank documents to unknown WhatsApp numbers.
  • Verify support numbers from the official portal before calling.
  • Log out after using a shared computer or assisted-service device.

Need to prepare supporting documents?

Life-certificate submission itself should be completed only through an official channel. When a legitimate grievance or support request asks for document copies, Toolorix can help prepare a working copy. Remove unnecessary personal information first.

SPARSH life-certificate questions

Is a life certificate required every year?

Pensioners are generally required to complete periodic identification, but the applicable schedule and special provisions should be checked from the current official instructions for the pensioner's category.

Can I submit a SPARSH life certificate from home?

Official digital routes may allow eligible pensioners to complete the process remotely. Availability depends on the current portal, application support, device and verification method.

What is a Pramaan ID?

It is the identifier generated for a Digital Life Certificate through Jeevan Pramaan. Keep it safely because it may be used to view or download the certificate and check status.

Does a successful biometric scan mean the certificate is accepted?

Not necessarily. Save the acknowledgement and check the status shown by the official service or pension authority.

Can BenefitDesk submit the certificate for me?

No. BenefitDesk is an independent information website and cannot access pension accounts, collect biometric data or submit a life certificate.

What should I do if the certificate is rejected?

Read the rejection reason, verify the pension and identity details entered, keep the reference number and follow the correction route provided by the official service.
