SPARSH First-Time Login: Create Your Password Using PPO Number

If your pension record is already on SPARSH but you do not have a password, you generally do not need to create a new pensioner account. Use your PPO-based User ID and the official Forgot Password option to obtain or reset access.

Important: BenefitDesk India is not a government website. Never share your OTP, password, bank PIN or card details with anyone claiming to provide SPARSH support.

Do you need a separate SPARSH registration?

Quick answer: If your pensioner record has already been migrated/created in SPARSH, the official guidance does not require you to register a fresh pensioner account just to log in for the first time. If you have not received login credentials, use the PPO-based User ID and the portal's Forgot Password option.

This guide is therefore called First-Time Login, not “First-Time Login.” It is meant for pensioners who already have a SPARSH pension record but still need to establish access to the portal.

What you should have before starting

Your SPARSH PPO number
Use the PPO number associated with your SPARSH pension record.
Your registered mobile phone
The official process may use the Registered Mobile Number for verification/OTP.
Access to the official SPARSH portal
Check that the browser address is sparsh.defencepension.gov.in before entering personal details.

How the SPARSH User ID is formed

The official SPARSH FAQ says that a pensioner who has not received the User ID/password can use the PPO number with the appropriate suffix as the User ID.

Pensioner typeUser ID format described in the official FAQExample
Self pensionerSPARSH PPO number + 01If PPO is 111111111, User ID is 11111111101
Family pensionerSPARSH PPO number + 02, 03, 04… as applicableThe suffix depends on the family-member serial number mentioned in the PPO.
Do not guess a family-pensioner suffix. Use the serial number applicable to the family member shown in the PPO or seek official assistance if you are unsure.

SPARSH first-time login steps

1

Open the official portal

Go directly to the official SPARSH website and open the pensioner login area.

2

Use your PPO-based User ID

For a self pensioner, the official FAQ describes the User ID as the PPO number with suffix 01. Family-pensioner suffixes depend on the PPO record.

3

Select Forgot Password

If you do not have the password, use the Forgot Password option shown on the official login page.

4

Complete verification

Follow the current on-screen verification steps. Keep the registered mobile available for any OTP or identity check required by the portal.

5

Set or receive access credentials

Complete the password recovery/setup process exactly as shown by SPARSH. Do not disclose the password or OTP to another person.

6

Return to login

Use your SPARSH User ID and the password established through the official process to sign in.

If first-time login does not work

User ID not accepted

Re-check the SPARSH PPO number and the applicable pensioner suffix. Do not substitute an old PPO number unless it is the number required by SPARSH.

OTP not received

Check the registered mobile connection, wait briefly and avoid repeated rapid requests. If the registered mobile is no longer accessible, use an official support route.

Account details not found

Your record may require verification or official assistance. Use the SPARSH portal's support/service-centre options rather than creating a duplicate account.

Official help: The SPARSH FAQ directs pensioners who have trouble using portal services to official support or a SPARSH Service Centre. Service-centre verification may use the Registered Mobile Number or security questions.

Safety while creating your password

  • Enter credentials only on the official sparsh.defencepension.gov.in domain.
  • Never tell an OTP or password to a caller, WhatsApp contact, agent or unofficial website.
  • Do not pay anyone merely to generate a SPARSH password.
  • After logging in, confirm the pensioner name and account context before opening documents or submitting requests.

Frequently asked questions

Is first-time SPARSH login the same as new registration?

No. For an existing SPARSH pensioner record, first-time access is about obtaining/setting login credentials. The official FAQ tells pensioners who have not received a User ID/password to use the PPO-based User ID and Forgot Password.

What is the SPARSH User ID for a self pensioner?

The official FAQ describes it as the SPARSH PPO number followed by 01 for the self pensioner.

What suffix should a family pensioner use?

The FAQ describes suffixes such as 02, 03, 04 and so on, according to the family-member serial number mentioned in the PPO.

I never received a password. What should I do?

Use the official SPARSH login page and select Forgot Password, then follow the current verification instructions shown by the portal.

Should I create another SPARSH account if login fails?

Do not create a duplicate account merely because access fails. Re-check the PPO/User ID details and use official recovery, support or service-centre assistance.

Is BenefitDesk India an official SPARSH website?

No. BenefitDesk India is an independent information website. Authentication and transactions must be completed through official government channels.
