Before acting: Check the pension regulation/order applicable to your Service, pension category and retirement date. Your PPO and competent authority's sanction remain controlling records.

1. Current revision date

The Ministry of Defence/DESW order dated 10 July 2024 provides that the next OROP revision is effective from 1 July 2024.

2. How the 2024 revision was fixed

The order states that past pension is re-fixed on the basis of Defence Forces retirees of calendar year 2023. For eligible pensioners/family pensioners it uses the average of the minimum and maximum pension of 2023 retirees in the same rank with the same length of service; pension already above the average is protected.

3. Use the official OROP tables

DESW published the OROP tables on 4 September 2024. Choose the table matching the pension category and then the correct rank/equivalent and qualifying service. A table for service pension cannot automatically be used for a different family/disability category.

4. Important 2025 table corrections

On 13 October 2025 DESW issued a further OROP order correcting inadvertent errors in specified tables, including Tables 14, 26, 48, 59 and 94. Anyone using an affected table should use the corrected version rather than an older downloaded copy.

5. Check your own pension

Keep the latest PPO/e-PPO and revision, note pension category, rank/equivalent and accepted qualifying service, identify the correct OROP table/cell, then compare the revised basic pension and effective date with the pension statement.

6. Arrears

When checking arrears, separate the revised basic-pension difference from Dearness Relief and other elements and use the exact effective period. Do not infer an arrear amount only from one month’s credit.

7. If your OROP amount appears wrong

State the exact table number, rank/category, qualifying service, official table rate, PPO rate and amount being paid. Attach the relevant pension record and table extract when using the applicable SPARSH/pension grievance route.

8. Avoid outdated tables

OROP information is especially vulnerable to outdated PDFs and forwarded charts. DESW’s Pension Circulars page should be the starting point for the current order and corrected tables.

9. Future revision

Do not publish a guessed future OROP amount. Update the guide only when the Government issues the applicable order/tables.
